One boundary, stated plainly: the hours named in 55 Pa. Code Ch. 5240 are the Commonwealth's requirements for a staff member, not hours this product awards. This training covers the topics the state syllabus names; it does not count toward, satisfy or discharge a Pennsylvania hour requirement. What it does and does not cover is listed below.

PA IBHS

Initial BHT/BT Training

This training course provides 30 hours of training for practitioners that work as BHTs, Behavior Techs, RBT®s, etc. who have limited to no experience working with individuals with developmental, mental and other disabilities (to include ASD).

What this training covers, and what it does not

55 Pa. Code § 5240.73(c) requires a BHT with no prior BHT experience to complete at least 30 hours of Department-approved training that includes eight specified topics, before providing services independently.

This course does NOT cover these § 5240.73(c) topics. You must obtain them separately:

• Crisis intervention skills, including risk management, de-escalation techniques and safety planning — § 5240.73(c)(2)
• Child and adolescent development — § 5240.73(c)(4). The included “Introduction to Human Development” module does not satisfy this requirement.
• Serious emotional disturbance — § 5240.73(c)(5). The included “Introduction to Developmental and Mental Health Diagnoses” module does not satisfy this requirement.

• First aid, universal precautions and safety — § 5240.73(c)(7)
