Learning Objectives:
1. Understand major theories in human development.
2. Recognize normal developmental milestones in children ages birth to 5 years.
3. Understand the variables impacting human development, including genetics, environment, stress and trauma, off-time events, education, and life experiences.
4. Understand the difference between continuous versus discontinuous development.
5. Understand the concepts of proximal zone of development and scaffolding and how to use these concepts when developing a behavioral plan.
6. Apply understanding of theories of human development to identify developmental concerns using a case study.
